12,12, 2008 Ice & Rain Storm Blankets the North East…. by SnoManJo

DECEMBER 12, 2008

(((Rare Ice & Rain Storm Blankets the North East…)))

New England,
was hit hardest by the storm that brought rain, freezing rain, sleet
and snow through the night. The mix will continuing through Friday.

Ski conditions,
are not looking so good as New Hampshire, and Vermont as both
seem wiped out as the ice accumulations built during the night
on top of the once fresh powder.

Vermont,
The National Weather Service said pockets of the state got
up to 1 inch of ice, which weighed down trees and caused
power lines and poles to snap. Thousands of homes right
now with no power as the ice storm barreled into the East coast
causing flooding along the coastline and severe Ice build up
all through Northern New England.

Maine,
Looks like around 37,000 homes and businesses in the state
of
Maine were without power, while hundreds  of schools shut
down across the state. Today, much of Maine was receiving
rain as temperatures rose,  but the weather service still was
predicting that parts of Northern would receive heavy snow,
with close to a foot expected in some areas.
